HANDTIED HAIR EXTENSION CARE
Welcome to the wonderful world of handtied hair extensions! I have all of the information you need to take amazing care of your hair all in one place. Use this for reference during your hair journey.
SHAMPOO + BRUSHING
Brush from the bottom up to detangle. Place hand over the weft when brushing to ensure your brush doesn’t snag a stitch
If you have multiple rows, clip each one out of the way and brush separately.
Ideal shampoo frequency: 1-2 times a week.
Detangle hair before shampooing
Use Sulfate free shampoo, cleanse and rinse thoroughly between wefts.
Avoid high protein products. They may cause buildup or shift the color of your extensions.
Squeeze the hair dry - do not rub.
STYLING
Do not air dry. Make sure the wefts are completely dry (even after workouts)
Use a lightweight heat protectant and hydrating oil prior to heat styling.
Tousle your hair until its about 85% dry, and then section the hair to blow dry with a round brush to smooth.
SLEEP
Do not go to sleep with wet hair.
Use a satin pillow case or sleep bonnet.
Sleep in a low, loose braid or pigtail braids secured with a soft hair tie or scrunchie.
TIPS FOR SUMMER + VACATIONS
Use mineral sunscreen. Avoid chemical sunscreen containing AVOBENZONE and OCTOCRYLENE. Chemical sunscreens can cause discoloration and pinkish tones in blondes.
Use products with UV and heat protection to keep your color from fading.
Keep your natural hair and extensions hydrated by using hair oils and leave in conditioners
Avoid chlorine and saltwater. But if you must, I would suggest wetting your hair and applying a leave in conditioner prior to getting it wet in a pool or ocean.
